Organize your stuff challenge - Week 3 (and a quick spring break recap!)

Yes, I skipped from week 1 to week 3, because I was in Orlando on spring break with DH and DD.  We had a blast at Universal!  The Harry Potter section is so cool!  That was really the whole reason for the trip...DD has wanted to go since she first heard the news that is was being created.  Harry Potter has been a huge part of my kids' growing up years, and even though DD is 18 and heading for college in the fall, this trip was very important to her.  And it didn't disappoint!  Here is a pic of DD and her best friend (and future college roomie) at the entrance to Hogsmeade (DD is the tall one!):

So, on to the challenge.  I decided to "go for broke" and clean everything out of my scrap area.  Luckily, I have the entire bonus room over the garage to strew my stuff around.  The rest of the room is a workout room and small play area for my niece and nephew...and far-in-the-future grandkids!  I'm the only one at home right now who uses the workout room (until DS comes home from college in three weeks...EEEK!  I didn't think about that!), so no one will care that my stuff is everywhere.  I made piles according to categories.  I had actually reorganized and cleaned up my area last spring when I was working on my son's albums for graduation.  And I haven't scrapped (or bought...can you imagine?!!?) much in the past year.  So the task really doesn't look TOO daunting right now.  My patterned paper situation is really the biggest issue, and paper week is next week, so a big part of my challenge will come around quickly.  In fact, I think I may start a little early with the paper, since I've got everything cleared out already this week.  And since I'm trying to get DD's albums done for graduation, I can't stop scrapping!

Here is the picture of the CLEAN SWEEP:

Notice the only thing left is my beloved Silhouette!  She is very happy where she sits, so I left her there!

Let the organizing begin!!

  1. Yes, paper is the biggest challenge. I have the vertical holders and I organize by manufacturers - not sure if that's your way. Maybe by theme? Good luck!

  2. Love your furniture Beth! Now you're ready to start re-loading everything you love back into your room, one week at a time.

  3. Good for you - a clean sweep is how to do it right! I organize my paper exactly how I think aobut it - by manufacturer. I know that does not work for everyone but no other way has ever worked for me. Wasn't HP the best? I was there a few weeks ago and we spent several hours exploring that section, drinking butterbeer. So fun! :)

  4. What a cool space to create in! I use to have an issue with PP too. But then I realized I was buying all this beautiful paper and not using it. Now I buy for a certain project. Or I'll buy several sheets and make kits up for my layouts. Can't wait to see how your area evolves!
